Essex Street Market

Essex Street market has been around since the 1940s, when the Lower East Side was a neighborhood teeming primarily with immigrants. But now that artists and young urban professionals have started to gentrify the neighborhood, the Essex Street Market occupies a smaller space. However, independent vendors still peddle a wide variety of ethnic foods, ranging from Kosher meat and fish to Asian staples like tea and rice, as well as Latin American products.
